It is clear to say, people can construct or build a totally
different identity through the internet. The problem arisen, people were misused
the internet. There is too much cases reported for dating and romance scam
while it happened all over the world.
What is dating and romance scam? The
scammers plays on emotional triggers that lower the defences by appealing to the
victims romantic and compassionate side. Normally, the scammer will request the
victims to provide them money, gifts and also their personal details. At first,
the scammers will target the victims by creating fake profiles on the social
websites such as facebook, instagram, twitter and wechat or even some dating
websites. Once they start contact with the victims, they will express strong
emotion on them and creating a romantic lovestory while making them believes
they are the true love. If the scammers are in other country,
they will start to pretend that they wanted to go visit the victims and ready
to book a flight for meet up. All of this was coax with delusive promises. Time by
time, they gained trust from the victims and they will have plenty of reason to
ask for money, gifts and personal details.

Their great story would be they
were claim to be the depths of despair due to financial problem or ill family
member. Alternatively, they might also claim to get serious sickness such as
cancer or accident, then, they will ask the victims to pay for their bills. The
victims always feel sympathy and started to sent them money. The stories was
old but still lots of people being trapped.
At the end, the victims will end up
losing alot of money. That is always impossible to claim back all the money
from the scammers and other than that, the victims would feel the long lasting
emotional betrayal at the situation of someone you thought loved you and so
called “true love” and trustworthy.
Not only women being cheat, while
men also always cheated by the scammers. The victims range have no different in
gender, profesional, educational level and social status. There is a news in
Malaysia during 2014 regarding a female doctor loses RM1.5 millions to a
Casanova scam( Doctor loses RM1.5 millions to internet scam.). She was first love bombed with a purported American Allen J.Ackermann.

Dating and Romance scamming are very dangerous as the victims may lose their money, they will get traumatized and they could never trust anyone anymore. If the scam is even more worst which make the victims cannot get through it, they may commit suicide. However, in my point of view we should not only put the blame on the person who scam. The victims who loses their money have their mistakes and responsibilities in bearing their loses too. If they never simply trust other people who just known and met online in a short period of time and giving them the money, they will never get scam. It is not to objecting finding true love through online or new media. But, we have to be more carefully and have a good control in our emotion so that we do not get cheat by their play on our emotion. With the present of the scams examples in variety ways, we should be more aware and alert because we could be targeted in anytime. Lastly, we should be able to identify between the love and reality. Yes, everyone need love but we have to love in reality.

First, I personal feel that woman should not believe on someone who claimed to have fallen in love with them quickly. That is impossible to have stranger fall for you without knowing you in deep. Second, please do not simply reveal personal information to stranger until you meet them face-to-face and develop a level of trust. Of course, do not alone when face-to-face interaction with social media friend. Third, be suspicious. Do not open attachment from stranger, because it may be virus that infect your computer.

However, in fact, we can discovered many related dating and romance scams in society today. In my opinion, there are a few factors lead to such phenomenon. Do not saying about good tactic used by scammers, this scamming case may happen because insecure feeling of victim to reality compared to internet world. Therefore, internet user (victim) will easily believes to the person on social networking site although they are never meet up in reality before. As we are young, parents will ask us to not believe on strangers easily and we will listen to it. Similarity, online environment is also a dangerous place that will cause raping, money cheating, robbery and others. Everyone of us should always alert even on internet, but not embrace the thinking for simply sharing and self-expression. Bad person will take it as an opportunity to do various negative behaviour for their own benefits.
ReplyDeleteThere are a few friends of mine could accept the relationship through online. Normally, the relationship does not stay long as they do not have a real feeling of love towards each other. I think lonely is the main reason they start the relationship. However, I don't support such relationship. Lonely should not be the excuse for it. As mentioned by Sam Kar Ann, it is impossible for a stranger to fall in love with anyone quickly or even first sight. As an internet user, we should know how to protect ourselves. Be alert! Love will not come to you just by clicking on the mouse.

However, there are some cases that people know each other through social media and they married. It is a matter of how you analyze, and understand the person critically then you only choose to get into relationship with them. Therefore, the tips provided to prevent those internet scammers are advised to be taken into account. Think properly before you action. :)
Deleteit is very dangerous to accept the relationship as your boyfriend or girlfriend is someone who you never meet them in person before. You don't know their background and real personality. Identity can be constructed easily in social media as he or she create the ideal image. Their is so many cases reported daily all over the world as many people were believes in the sweet talk and promises. Lots of money loses and some even lost their lives. Always remember, do not simply trust people who you never met.

By using social media, we can relieve our loneliness by interacting with others by social media. however at the same time, the fear of loneliness it might cause you harmful consequences. Therefore, to protect yourself from the dating and romance scam, to avoid wasting lot of money and time, be smart and be more alert!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with that. It's true that someone find true love through social media however there are a lot of people been tricked through social media. Some of them have lose money, and some even lose their virginity.I think we should always be aware that we shoudn't believe people easily. Even the stranger ask to meet face-to-face, we should always bring our friends together and meet in a place with more people so that they cannot do anything bad to us. Always be aware and preotect urself!

So i think before getting involved with any body online, we really need to do some background check and loyalty test so that we really know who we are dealing with. Being scammed isn't a joke especially if there is a money involved so i really suggest lets do some loyalty test before having a relationship with anybody who we met online. We really have to be careful. Some people are conducting and doing the honey trapping online
